Babies, Weddings, and Boredom.

The boredom being between all the babies and weddings of course. This title pretty much summarizes my life for the last two months. Except for job searching...Which gets me to the reason for this post. I've been trying to save money (uggghhh), and it's difficult. Everywhere my eyes land I see amazing gifts for my friends' little ones! I mean really, who can resist all those adorable onesies and footies or withstand the urge to spoil all those soon-to-be married friends? So far, my solution for all of it (boredom, money saving, and pampering friends) has been to DIY it! So here are a few pictures and links of the things I've been creating.
First off babies! This baby blanket idea came from Martha herself. Next time I will have more pictures showing a more step-by-step process, but for now the directions are on the link below. Here is my version of Martha's blanket:

After picking out my fabrics and sewing them together, I felt like there should be a little something extra. I finally decide to add ribbon around the edges. I hand sewed this part by aligning the ribbon on each side and pinning them in place. If you are more skilled at aligning and pinning you could probably machine stitch it.

This next idea also came from Martha. As soon as, I saw these collage boards I wanted to make them. Again, I changed mine a little. The reason for altering the idea this time was because I couldn't find the right size boards. Here is the result:

The boards I found at the craft store were unfortunately larger and
flatter than the original form. To fill the extra space I finally decided
to add a ribbon for hanging the collages. I simply tide two small bows
with a thinner ribbon and used another thicker, patterned ribbon
as the hanger. I then used two colored push pins to keep the them in
place.

I think she enjoyed the gift. What do you think?

I can't wait to meet her "little one" in person! I actually got to feel him
hiccup!!!

I made both the blanket and collages for another friend having a baby
girl. Sorry I forgot to take pictures of those. I'll have to snap some of
them in the baby room next time I visit. In the mean time, here is a
picture of me holding the tiny princess!!!

She is so precious! I can't wait to see her again!!!

Next time "Weddings." Hope you enjoyed the post!
